According to the North Carolina board of Cosmetic Arts: Licensees must complete a minimum of 8 hours of continuing education per year of licensure. This includes Cosmetologists, Manicurists, Estheticians, and Natural Hair Care Specialists. You do not have to complete a continuing course if you qualify for and file either of the following forms: 20 Years Work Experience Exemption Form or 60 Years of Age and 10 Years Work Experience Exemption Form
